Research Projects (Partial List)
- The Institute for Global Electronic Commerce, drawing upon expertise and
input from the corporate and university communities, is designed to promote
the electronic transmission of commercial transactions through the
connection of companies and universities and through the creation of new
entities.
It is of necessity multidisciplinary and represents the leading-edge
thinkers and performers in the paperless world of commerce. The scope of
the Institute is to foster a multidisciplinary educational and research
program that covers such areas as Computer and Information Sciences and
Technology, Law, and Business.
- Development of a NASA
Regional Validation Center in
conjunction with the
Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission (HMDC).
- Development of a
Water Quality Monitoring system with the Environmental Center
at HMDC
- Development of a Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) system
for
CRAMTD (Combat Ration Advanced Manufacturing Technology
Demonstration), sponsored by Rutgers CAFT and the Defense Logistics
Agency. CIM supports several key manufacturing and management
functions of small to medium businesses in manufacturing packaged food
products for civilian and military customers.
- Development of the following projects, together with its
affiliated institution St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center,
Paterson, NJ (SJHMC), (the largest hospital in New Jersey): "Design
and development of a Database System for Breast Cancer Patient Data,''
"Introduction of Networking Applications'', "Application of Neural
Network Technology in Breast Cancer Research,'' and "Building an
Integrated Clinical Information System.''
- Development of a Geodata Modeling System that aims to integrate
the two existing systems of Geographical Information Systems (GIS),
the Open Geodata Interoperability Specification (OGIS) and
Computational Modeling Systems (CMS)
- Development of a Global Legal Information Network (GLIN),
in collaboration with the Law Library of Congress, NASA
Center of Excellence in Space Data and Information Sciences(CESDIS).
Additional details and
sample applications are available.
- The GIS Integration Project,
is generated "on the fly" from information stored in a GIS and a relational database. Pre-Generated images may be viewed right away or new customized images can be generated from GIS.
- Virtual Patient Record Demonstration Site, this site presents a demonstration of the Virtual Patient Record - An integrated view of medical information.
- A Multi-layered Clinical Decision
Support System, principally investigated by Vijay Atluri, is
Sponsored by FOM, Rutgers University, 1997-1998.
The focus of this project is to design and develop
a Clinical Decision Support System that facilitates
patient-oriented, time-oriented, event-oriented, and
problem-oriented, type of analysis that help to conduct research
studies or trend analysis.
- A Petri Net Based Approach to Enforcing Mandatory and
Discretionary Security in
Workflow Management Systems, Principally Investigated by Vijay Atluri
is Sponsored by National Security Agency, 1996-1997.
This project investigates how multilevel security and
discretionary security can be incorporated into workflow
management systems. This project also investigates how
Petri Nets can be used to model and analyze workflows.
- Supporting Workflow, Long Duration and Nested
Transaction Models in a Multilevel Secure Database
Environment, Principally Investigated by Vijay Atluri, is
sponsored by National Science Foundation, 1996-2000.
The focus of this project is to develop models,
techniques and algorithms for
incorporating multilevel security into
advanced application domains such as office information systems,
CAD/CAM, software development and publication environment.
