Is Professor of Computers Information Systems and Chair of the MS/CIS Department at Rutgers University and director of the Center for Information Management, Integration and Connectivity. He is also a Member of the Rutgers Graduate Program in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Dr. Adam edited/co-edited three special issues of: CACM, Operations Research, and Journal of Management Information Systems. In addition, he co-edited six books including Digital Libraries: Current Issues, Lecture Notes Series in Computer Science, Springer Verlag, 1995 and Advanced Databases Systems, Lecture Notes Series in Computer Science, Springer Verlag, 1993. He published several papers in a wide range of areas including digital libraries, query optimization, database modeling, object-oriented databases, and concurrency and consistency control in distributed database systems. He contributed to such journals as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, ACM Computing Surveys, Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, and European Journal of Operational Research.

He serves on the Editorial board of the Journal of Management Information Systems. In addition, he served as the Vice-Chair of the ``1993 Conference on Information and Knowledge Management'' and the Program Chair of the ``1994 Conference on Information and Knowledge Management.'' He served as co-chair of the ``1994 Digital Libraries Workshop'' that was held at Rutgers University and is serving as a program co-chair for the ``1995 Digital Libraries Forum'' that will be held in May, 1995. He also served on program committee of several international conferences.

Dr. Adam serves as a consultant to several organizations, including Bellcore, and Center for Excellence in Space Data and Information Sciences, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He received the B.S. degree from Cairo University, the M.S., M.Phil, and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
